Dont beat yourself up, however you need to learn to shop savvy, I use Benefit products and always buy them from eb*y at a fraction of the cost. Shop around ALWAYS....I still want to have the things I know work for me, but I just wont pay those inflated prices now.

We split a fair few years ago (daughter is now 9 and was 1 when it happened) and I have always tried to remain amicable.
The problems arised because I work... his mother takes/fetches our daugher from work twice a week, she is a registered childminder and I have never paid her, (my mother doing the other 3) and he stipulated from the start that the cost to his mother of doing this meant she could not take on another paying child therefore that was my maintenance.
After a year or so (bear in mind some of the debts i was left to pay were joint) ex decided he could afford 50.00 per month contribution, raised to 100.00 in the last 6 months. As stated it does not always materialise.
Once my daughter hits high school age (ie is able to walk herself from home/back and not in need of his mothers babysitting) I fully intend to make a CSA claim.... he pays me in cash when he does pay so I guess he would find it difficult to prove paying a penny - chances are I will not be that mean however and will disclose his actual payments made to them!
Am in two minds over this
What gran would expect money for looking after her own flesh and blood.
On the other hand your daughter being there will impact on her earnings.
However - I doubt very much if the money is getting made up by her son.
So for those reasons I would suggest going to the CSA.
Regarding him paying you in cash.
The CSA only back date things to the date you first contact them.
and if there is a dispute they take it direct from his employers.
If he was to earn 16000 a year (which is a fairly low income) they would asses that as 2400 to you( one child 15%)
Thats 200 a month.
So he should pay up......
(thats if he is on 16k)
if he is on more than that he should pay more.
