Any chance of a mortgage?

Just looking for a bit of advice to see if I would have any chance of a mortgage. Im thinking f buying in a year or so but want to have an estimate.

I am a 26 year old single woman (no children), full time employed on a permanent contract earning around £28,000.
Deposit of around £10-15000
I have had bad credit in the past though (defaults and 1 ccj) all due to be gone off my credit report within the next year.

Does the bad credit history mean I'm hopless case? If not how much would I be looking at? Iv had no defaults/late payments within the last 5 years. I currently only have 1 credit card which I pay off monthly and a mobile phone contract. Any advice welcome!

Is everything now settled? If so have they been settled for the 5 years?

Have you had credit since then that you have kept on top of?

  • They are not paid I had some (maybe bad) advice of not to pay them because they will fall off my credit report soon anyway. Silly that I even have it on my file its from next directory but was young and stupid!

Yes I havent missed or had a late payment in the last few years on anything Iv had like my credit card etc.

You MIGHT be alright then, if your credit score is alright now then you might get through with some lenders.
I would say avoid the likes of HSBC and First direct, they have the best deals but the strictest criteria.

It could be worth getting copies of your credit reports and then speaking with a broker, the last thing you want to do is apply and get turned down from a few places.
