am i correct in my thinking in post #8 - that the interest she's received from both accounts - Halifax & Santander (her only banks) should be lumped together & counted "as one" if that makes sense?
As Jem says - yes.
And just to clarify (as I got called away earlier) :March: Net interest = £7.75 (£1.94 tax deducted).
Gross .......................... £9.69
Tax (20% of gross) ....... £1.94
Net ............................. £7.75
So you just add them up if you don't have an annual certificate from Santander. Halifax is straightforward. Reward account is £6.25pm gross / tax £1.25pm / net £5pm ...... so you just multiply it by the number of months received. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Sorted then. Thanks for your help.
Just need to wait on the P60 then & then some paperwork from the pension place. I'm assuming they'll give some sort of end of tax year review paperwork. If not then she'll have to hope she still has her final payslip from them.0 -
I believe - could be wrong - that the pensions people should also issue a P60 (and yes, I know this is a pension following her Dad's death rather than directly employment related ...)Signature removed for peace of mind0

With some pension providers the final payslip of the tax year is also the P60 and is marked as such.0 -

Isn't it usually the first one of the next year? And which also tends to set out any new rates for the coming year.If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Right, so this has been on the back burner until my sister was able to see her employer regarding her P60. Due to college work & college placements, the earliest was last week, but the woman she had to see about it wasn't in.
So she was in work today & asked about her P60.
The woman told my sister that she "can't give" her her P60 (no reason given) and that my sister will have to call up some office. When i say some ... my sister says that this woman actually named the office, but my sister forgot what the name was. I asked if the woman said "tax office", but my sister says she doesn't think it was that. So i'm at a loss.
My sister isn't as forceful/pressing as i am, hence she doesn't even know WHY this woman "CAN'T" give her her P60 (yet my sister received one at the same time last year ... so what's the difference!?).
The end of year figure is required for this form, so it's causing a bit of a hold up.
Any advice beyond "go back & beat the woman with a stick"?0 -

Sorry Mike - missed this for some reason.
My pension provider has increases at the start of each calendar year and send me a letter in December stating what my pension will be for the next 12 months.
My actual payslips from the pension company arrive on the 20th of each month. March's payslip also doubles up as a P60 but is clearly marked that this is also my P60.0 -

It won't be the tax office as P60s are processed by the employer not HMRC.
I would imagine it's likely to be Head Office of her work.Any advice beyond "go back & beat the woman with a stick"?
She is legally entitled to a P60 by the end of May. It should either have been given to your sister or posted out to your sister. Either way your sister does need to be a bit more forceful and ask for the Head Office contact details in writing.0
