Be nice to your Tesco.com driver

Options
I have found that the Tesco.com drivers go out of their way to be helpful if they feel they are appreciated.

I have frequently allowed them to deliver my order earlier than my arranged time slot because they have been nearby delivering to another house. They would have had to go 10-20 miles and then come back if I didn't.

In return they have been really good and always allow me to keep something that has a bit of damage ie leaky milk, and then arrange a refund.
I occasionally pointed out that BOGOFS were not adhered to (they only brought one of the item) and they let me keep it AND get a refund.

A couple of days ago I pointed out to the driver that I hadn't received my "computers for schools vouchers" and he gave me a whole pad of them.

Maybe I have just been lucky to get such nice reasonable people, or maybe they want to be nominated for "driver of the month". Either way I think cooperation is a two way thing.

I'm always nice to them as generally they are great - I have a house with several steep steps up and a small hallway and they are often really good about bringing the stuff right into the house, plus parking outside is a pain. I have always found Tesco great if anything gets damaged or has a short sell by date. The substitution is a bit strange, but you can ask them to take it back - I have always received the refund. Occasionally you get an item or 2 you didn't order and they normally just say 'keep it'. I once did get a drive who was too fat a) to get in the door and b) to carry any of the shopping which did mean he wasn't very suitable for the job - I've not seen him since though. In fact as a mother of a small child, who doesn't have much patience with supermarket shopping (me and her) Tesco home delivery is a godsend to me - it saves me at least 2 hours, plus a drive of 16 miles round trip to my nearest decent supermarket, all for a bargain £3.99. The website is quicker and better now and I can't complain at all about the quality of the vegetables as they are 99% as good as I would pick myself.
  • I always tip them a couple of quid as I am so grateful that I don't have to go to the supermarket - having said that now that Tescos have blocked alot of their money codes not sure I will be shopping with them much from now on as the money off covered the cost of delivery and the tip !! grumpy lot come on Tesco give us back our codes !!
