  • Organic muesli is on BOGOHP - the excotic fruit muesli one is nice, the other 2 are just okay. Oliver Peyton (chef) did a test of ready-made puddings recently - some of the M&S ones did well, others didn't:

M&S Sticky toffee pudding: "Dry and deeply unpalatable". No stars.
M&S Banoffee pie & trifle: 4 stars (out of 5)
Cheesecake M&S zesty lemon: "Overly sweet." 3 stars.
M&S Chocolate mousse: "virtually no taste of chocolate. Don't like this at all." No stars
Chocolate cake: M&S chocolate fudge cake "Moist sponge with just the right amount of topping" 5 stars
M&S melting middle puddings: 4 stars.
Profiteroles: "a bit greasy. And the chocolate tastes cheap". 2 stars
Tarte au citron: "Nice buttery base. Good strong lemon flavour. Very nice." 4 stars
M&S crème caramel: Disappointing. 2 stars
Rice pudding: M&S clotted: "Looks good, but it has no flavour." No stars
    Crumble: 2 stars.
Custard: M&S luxury thick and creamy custard: "Oooh, they've really made an effort with this. It's nice and thick. Lovely." 5 stars
Fruit salad: M&S layered rainbow salad. 5 stars
"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."

Rosekitten, no idea about the tinned steak I'm afraid. Whenever tins are on offer it tends to be either buy on get one half price or on a 3 for 2/4 for 3 deal. If I find out its going to be on offer then I will post it here.

Competitionscafe, I've not tried most of the puddings Oliver Peyton reviewed there but I wonder which chocolate mousse he was talking about. I've liked all the ones that I've tried though none of them were sensational.
That rainbow salad is delicious, though pricey at £2.99 for 320g. It is my favourite thing at M&S at the minute, it contains some of my favourite fruit. It has melon, watermelon, orange melon, mango and red grapes in it. Yum yum. Give me one of those to the puddings anyday.
Of course, the MSE way would be to buy the fruit individually and make it yourself.:)

Just came back from M&S. I bought lots of half price goodies:

    Singapore Noodles (£1.99)
    Seafood Risotto (£2.49)
    Chicken Dopiaza (£1.89)
    12 potato croquettes (£1.44)
Pack of 4 chocolate muffins (can't get over how soft & chocolatey these are!) (£0.64)
    2 sticky toffee puddings (£0.99)
2 melt in the middle chocolate puddings (£1.24)

    Half price traditional sauces:

Caramelised onion sauce, 530g for 74p.
Creamy mushroom sauce, 510g for 74p.
Cracked black pepper sauce, 320g for 74p.
Creamy watercress sauce, 320g for 74p

I've just bought the mushroom sauce and the black pepper sauce - the label said 77p not 74p and they scanned at £1.55.

The guy put them through the till manually when I pointed it out, but keep your eyes peeled if you buy them.

If the till scanned it at £1.55 then I expect that it has gone back up in price and someone hasn't changed the price ticket.

I was in M&S yesterday, and they are also offering a free carving set when you buy two of their ready to roast joints.

Shopndrop, some meals will be going on offer, different to the ones that are on now. I'll find out for sure early in the week and will post them here if you want.
