Many councils are stopping people from turning homes ? into Buy To Let properties. IE more than 3 unrelated people is now a HMO
You could buy a nice 2 bedroom 2 bathroom flat and take a lodger to help pay the mortgage and cut the bills.
You also need to consider where you want to live once you have finished uni ? and if you need to move to another part of the country for your Job/career.
Being a landlord can be a huge pain in the a** and requires a huge investment to comply with all the rules and regs EPC, GSC, Electrical safety inspection, HMO, mains wired smoke alarms, fire doors, and the list goes on and on0
