Tesco Interview on Tuesday. Any advice?

I have an interview on Tuesday morning with Tesco and was looking for some advice.

I recently replied to a job advert posted in the window of Tesco looking for, "flexible/temporary contract workers" to work between 35 and 45 hours a week.

On Friday I was invited for an interview on Tuesday morning. I was wondering if anyone has had a similar interview? What where they asked and where they successful? I was also seeking interview advice in general and would be greatful for any responses.

Thanks

Mine was an interview on my own. They had about 5 questions. The ones I can remember were... Describe a time you helped someone, describe a time you was in a position of trust. I can't get a job there but my neighbour who smokes weed like there's no tomorrow can. Go figure!

Perhaps your neighbour who smokes loads of weed is also capable of using the English language properly.

Just a small point, but it's possible that if you use language like this... "was" instead of "were"... that interviewers will think 'Well they can't string two words together'.

    It happens.

I got asked the same questions, The interviewer was also sneaky, He was to friendly, but it was a ploy to get me to relax and open up more, we ended up chatting about guitars in the end:( Never got the job, I'm about 10 years to old looking at their current staff.
  • Good Luck, I hope it goes well

Oh forgive me for typing a quick message to try help someone with a Tesco interview. Didn't realise I was entering an English competition. Besides, was I not quoting the questions I was given? The English problem belongs to that loser who was going to be the Store Manager when the Express store opened. No wonder it is no longer going to open. Thank you for your well considered and thoughtful message, which clearly explained *WHY* one word is used in preference to the other in a given situation.

Getting an interview for a supermarket is actually an achievement in itself, They attract some of the largest numbers of applications, 800 applied to Tesco's when I applied the job centre told me for 20 part time jobs

Just show you work well with others, but do not ever mention you're ambitious. Dress formally but don't wear a suit. You don't want to appear smarter or better dressed than your interviewer.
  • If you have got an interview with Tesco I would dress smartly and still wear a suit. I did and got the job with them (twice).

The interviews are usually very relaxed just you and the department manager for the particular position advertised.

I would also discuss your ambitions; they are always looking for committed people. I told my interviewer I wanted to work my way up and it never did me any harm.

You will usually be asked scenario questions similar if not the same ones as stated in previous posts.

If you have been successful you usually hear back within the same week of your interview.

    Good look anyone
