I'm after some contacts so I can get some products to sell on a car boot or eBay.
Anyone got any links or info

1 thing I have to start off is some Casio watches from eBay, I have started by only buying a couple of dozen. I have searched the web but cannot find anywhere I can order the from.

I would be grateful for any info.

Cheers cash

Have you tried alibaba for items shipped from China? What kind of items are you looking for?

Nobody's likely to give you their suppliers details, if you do manage to find some of your own do check what you can reasonably sell on for, taking into account all fees, tax & NI, you may find that you need to shift an awful lot to make even a few quid.

Don't you have to pay tax on goods shipped in from China? Say you order a box of mobile phone covers from Alibaba - I'm pretty sure that Customs will put extra charge on it?

I think you do, some retailers send items marked as a 'gift' to avoid this but thats not recommended as illegal!
  • It takes years to find good suppliers. People won't divulge this info they have worked so hard to get. If you want to run a business and succeed you have to be prepared to put in the leg work. Self employment is not easy.
  • Ive bought quite a few times from alibaba/aliexpress and had no problems with customs*touch wood*. Alot of the sellers upgrade their shipping if you spend over a certain amount so you can track the parcels etc.

I have recently looked into this myself, I don't think I am going to go ahead tbh. I have done a LOT of research on price points and some people on ebay simply sell for ridiculous profit margins..

An item they buy for £2.40 (inc vat), sell at £4.49, well once the 40p buy it now, 10% final sale fee, the paypal 20p +4%, packaging costs... they are maybe making £1-£1.50per item. Meaning they have to have a very high turnover of stock, which with very limited storage and start up funds, I just couldn't compete. Especially against 200000+ ratings, compared to a 100 rating newbie.

I kind of wonder if the ebay ship has well and truly sailed.
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.
