Have you looked into ordering contact lenses over the Internet? I got a 6 month supply for £30 (though that doesn't includes cases & cleansing fluid)

Thanks - I'll look into that!

Really enjoying reading your DFW diary - a real inspiration!

Great news that you're doing so well! Two targets achieved - I don't think you've cheated, if you've paid it off, you've paid it off and, as you say, fantastic morale boost!
    Keep up the good work!

Hi All! This is a very bleary eyed piggy signing in today! I have worked a lot of hours this week, but the good news is that this means I can go early today – I shall be leaving at lunch time! Woohoo! It’s perhaps as well really – I think I am no use to man (or woman) nor beast today!

I have received my cheque from Central Trains – Passenger Charter compensation for poor service. It is not as much as I was expecting (c£100) but still 60-something quid is not bad. I think I might pay the whole of my current Littlewoods balance, £30.04, instead of just £5.

Some bad news I am afraid. One of our !!!!! cats is poorly – we think he might have had a stroke. OH took him to the vets yesterday afternoon and they did lots of tests and he has got to go back this morning for some more. It’s not his thyroid, they are going to check his kidneys but it might be his heart. They are also possibly going to x-ray him to see if it is something skeletal. We just don’t know at the moment. Luckily OH has got enough money in his bank account to cover the costs – and luckily our vets don’t seem to be too expensive compared to others. It’s always a worry, though - how we will afford the bills if one of them gets ill. I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

I may do another update this afternoon from home – if not, have a good weekend everyone.

    Hi All

Well I have had a very lazy weekend… but I needed it as I have been feeling absolutely exhausted and actually not very well – I have not been out of the house at all over the weekend. This means of course that I have not spent any money so that’s good.:A

My Tax Credits update form came in the post on Saturday so I just need my P60 and then I can get that sent off – I don’t suppose I will get much this year as I have had 3 payrises in the last 9 months. I think I am due another 1 or 2 more this year as well – 1 we have been informed of already which we will get in August and the other one is still in the lap of the gods but if I get that, then that should be August as well. I think I will enclose a note about that (at least the definite one) when I send my form back, this should avoid me being overpaid by too much (not that it will be by a lot anyway!!!)

My Avon delivery came this morning so I suppose I will spend this evening bagging it up ready to deliver tomorrow. I forgot to say how much I got in sales this time… I can’t remember the exact figure but it was about £185. A vast improvement on last time! I think I should earn about £40 from this – every little helps!:T

Thanks Snaggles. PC1 (!!!!! Cat 1 - we have 2) is a lot better than he was - he has been purring and cackling so he is obviously feeling better. The latest I heard (from Friday) was that he has a heart murmur and high blood pressure. He will probably be going to see a cardiologist (a cat cardiologist - I didn't know there was such a thing!) soon but they want his blood pressure to come down before they put him through the stress of the journey. OH had to take him back to the vets this morning and I have heard nothing yet so maybe they are on their way now - his Mum took him in her car so that he would have transport if necessary. I suppose we will just have to wait and see.

    Hi All

Only time for a quick update today – very busy this morning and I have got to leave early this afternoon to go and have my knee xrayed.

PC1 is much better but it looks like he is going to be more expensive to feed from now on as the vets have put him on a special diet (low protein etc) – hopefully once we have worked out which ones he likes we can probably find a website where we can buy them cheaper. He has apparently got a problem with his thyroid (over-active I think), slight kidney disease, high blood pressure and a heart murmur.

OH is paying my Central Trains refund cheque into my bank account today so that will help with the family finances.

I managed to get all of my Avon deliveries bagged up last night which means I will be able to get out tonight to deliver them – so hopefully more money in the bank tomorrow!

Did a new Snowball yesterday - DFD currently stands at August 2011. That's not bad I think! Obviously a lot can happen between now and then but it is something to aim for.

I think that’s all for today – might have more time tomorrow!

Oh dear – very, very tired today! This is going to be another busy day today – I am being pulled in lots of different directions.

O.K. update – I did not do my Avon deliveries last night because it was raining! It is an utterly miserable job in the rain because all the paper bags get wet (no matter how hard I try to keep them dry) and they tear and it’s just horrible. The weather here is a lot better today so hopefully I should be able to get out this evening to do them. OH is going to put my books out for me today so that is one job that I won’t have to do.

OH got my hayfever tablets for me yesterday (finally!) so I hoped I would be feeling a bit better today but I am still doing plenty of sneezing. It really p***es me off!

Had my X-ray yesterday afternoon and got the bus fare refunded, which was a bonus. I didn’t even know until recently that you can get travel expenses for medical appointments reimbursed if you get tax credits. I wish I had known that earlier – I have been for loads of appointments for various things at our local hospital over the last couple of years. I must have spent a fortune on bus fares!

    Hi All

I am fearing for my sanity today! Very stressful day at work trying to organise resit Medicine placements to start Monday! The results have not even been published yet (that's happening lunchtime). Mad panic trying to find enough placements because we have got so many students resitting. I'm itching for the phone to ring and wondering whether I should be trying anyone else while I'm waiting.

I shall be glad to go home today and I really hope it’s not too late.

Did not do Avon again last night as I was so late home. I won’t be doing them tonight – I do not do Fridays if I can possibly avoid it. I’ll do them tomorrow instead.

    Have a good weekend everyone!

    Hi All

Just a quickie as I’m going to be out of my office pretty much all day today (I am helping out with an exam).

Finally got round to doing a couple of jobs over the weekend. I sent off letters cancelling 2 credit cards that have had 0 balance for a while now and there have been no special deals forthcoming. Hopefully if I reduce the amount of my available credit I might have more chance of applying for a new card in August when my 0% APR deal on my LTSB card expires – hoping for a good life of balance, balance transfer deal.

I also did all but one of my Avon deliveries over the weekend so I have got some money to pay into my account tomorrow.

Did some other jobs but I will update on those later – probably tomorrow now. Happy Monday everyone!
