Trainee Mortgage Advisor Assessment Day

Hi all,
I recently applied for a trainee mortgage advisor role (I'm 2/3 through CeMAP. I've successfully got through the interview stage and have now been asked back for an assessment day next week.
I'm just wondering whether anyone has any tips on what to expect and brush up on prior to this?
Thanks in advance, Bill.

And perhaps know a little about the company you are potentially getting a job at.

It will probably involve a role play - i wouldnt imagine it would be selling a mortgage...on the basis its for a trainee role, presumably you will not be expected to have sold before.
If there is a role play where you have to sell something, make sure you have 2 things to sell - every role play i have had they have rejected the first product.
Try to cross sell, if they ask you to sell a holiday (the 2 that i have had were) sell the holiday, tell them how it meets their needs...eg family holiday, it has a kids club and a pool, beach nearby etc...then try and sell holiday insurance or foreign exchange.
Try and have a bit of a conversation before hand, hi how are you, hows your day been etc build up a bit of rapport.
Smile...it sounds reallllllllly corney but if you smile it comes across well...unless you have 1 front tooth and thats black...then maybe not.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. Consider selling insurance products whilst advising future clients on mortgages.

dont consider it...DO it! Mortgages alone wont be enough to keep you in house and home unless your run off your feet with them.Joe_Bloggs wrote: »Consider selling insurance products whilst advising future clients on mortgages.

If your with a large company they will make sure your selling life insurance as a bare minimum....whether they need it or not after reading some of the threads on here.
You will get a good sales grounding with a large company, im not sure the ethics are entirely there but it will put you in good stead once you decide to go it alone.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
