Financial disassociation

My partner is in the process of divorcing and removing his ex from his mortgage. They had joint debts which she stopped paying so he ended up taking out a trust deed for them and has now completed it. I understand that he will be financially linked to her until she is removed from the mortgage but I wondered how it will work with regard to the joint debts covered by the trust deed. These accounts should be marked as settled so can he ask each of the reference agencies to disassociate himself from her when she has been removed from the mortgage? I know that as he has completed the trust deed he is no longer liable for the joint debts but they can in theory still chase her for money.
Any advice would be appreciated.
