I have just applied for a remortgage with the Chelsea BS and they have listed a long list of fees I need to cover including the arrangement fee, these included
Valuation £360
Legal £417.90
Land Registery £90
Transfer fee £23.50
L L £117
Redemption £90
Product fee £395
Is this normal?

Is this normal?:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

Out of curiosity does any one know what I meant by LL at £117, it made perfect sense yesterday when I scribbled it down.

Yes. Sometimes its better staying with your existing lender. Choosing one of their products and using the money you would have spent remortgaging on reducing the mortgage balance.
When remortgaging always check the follow on rate after the initial product term ends. As you'll incur the similar costs again to switch lenders in the future. As your mortgage balance reduces the cost effectiveness disappears.0 -
Hi, i remortagaged via AWD Finance in 2007( regretfully) However I recieved a call from legal and general informing me that they cease to exist and that they would inform another company to take over. During teh call they mentioned that I may be contacted by other companies who may take a large commisson if I went for compensation and that if I did want to apply for compensation I should get in touch with them direct. When I questioned them about what I might want to claim for they cut the conversation short and didnt really want to discuss it.
A ) what compensation were they talking about.
B)What happens about the lifetime service in the orignal fee I paid(again regretfull f this (approx £2,500)
C) I was sold PPI cover which I didnt really want as I pay the morgage and get full pay for six months and then half pay for six. Redunduncy unlikely as I work as a teacher. I did cancel PPI after about a year and got some some refund (£3000 paid initially for £3 years cover) can I put in a PPI reclaim especially as I cancelled it?
Can I claim on the broker fees?
Please net some advice don't know what to do?0 -
