Cheap fizzy juice

Apologies if I'm posting this in the wrong place, but there are so many subforums in this place that it makes me dizzy :rotfl: There may very well be some kind of bargain fizzy juice Sticky thread somewhere, so feel free to move it if I've posted incorrectly.

Both me and my partner (him mostly) enjoy fizzy juice/pop. I never did before I met him, but now I've caught the addiction and I'm almost as bad as him. We drink LOTS. I only drink diet or suger free versions though, but between us we go through about 4-6 litres a day (I drink lots of water too though ;) )

I've tried everything to make it cheaper, and we've swapped to value lemonades and own-brand fizzy. But it's still burning a hole in our weekly budget. I try to stock up at Costco whenever we go (litre bottles or cans, depending on the offer) but Costco is too far away to go more than a couple times a year.

Is there anywhere I can get cheap fizzy juice in bulk? So we can stick it in the shed and not keep popping to the shops and spending fivers a time?

Supermarket deals are often good, but not on all year round of course.

And yes, I know quitting this addiction would be cheaper but we've tried and failed many times! We try to save money using diluting juice and value lemonade wherever possible. Suggestions anyone?

thanks :D

Sounds like us, you might benefit from picking up a cheap soda stream from somewhere, you don't have to buy their brand concentrates. The gas bottles appear to last for ages (well they do to us, we have had ours for two years and not had to get a new bottle with a fair amount of usage) we use ours to fizzy-up squash and other drinks, and also make a cheap carbonated juice (like suso) simply by whizzing orange juice in it. Also if cola is your poison, lots of places online do postmix like you get in pubs etc( and give you the ratios on the box) quite cheaply, so you can make it at a fraction of the price. Hope this helps- it may not be for everyone but it's what we do.

Hmm, have found one second hand for £10 ;)

Was just wondering though, what's the taste like? I've always been wary as my mum used to buy that horrendous syrup you add to milk to make a faux milkshake, it was disgusting. So whenever I think of homemade drinks I just remember the taste of that stuff!!

ergh!! I remember that too!! the raspberry one that...ergh just synthetic!!! well if you buy postmix it will taste just like it does in the pub, but if you fizzy up your squash...it does just that! All depends on your budget, can you afford to spend a tenner and just play with it and see what suits you? can always third hand it if you don't get on with it xx

We don't drink any fizzy pop as such, but I do get fizzy water and mix it with fresh juice or occasionally cordial when I fancy something refreshing. The supermarkets own brand sparkling water is about 15p - 19p depending on the shop. Then just buy some cheap cordial; own brand or whatever is on offer.

I know you mentioned that you only buy sugar free or diet drinks.... not sure if that is for the calories or for the teeth, but carbonated drinks, no matter if they are sugar free are terrible for your teeth. Also the jury is out on the health risks on the sweetners used in diet drinks.... I personally would rather have limited natural sugars than artificial sweetners. Not trying to preach, but you do seem to drink an awful lot and by the sounds of your post, you seem to already know its not good for you???

they have bulk buy and postmix boxes really cheap on here. i got a load of cans of fairtrade coke a week ago and they were fine, some things on here are past their best before date so its up to you if you want to risk it. i do and have had no problems at all !
you could also try amazon for bulk buy offers. hth

With soda streams keep an eye on the price of the cartidges, they aren't cheap!

Other ideas are to buy fizzy water and add squash (sugar free of course) Value/Basics ranges have lower priced diet lemonade and if you pay that little bit more things like diet orange, diet cherryade, diet limeade...etc all at fair enough prices.

Otherwise try to keep it to one bottle a day to limit prices, feels hard at first but once you get used to it, you wont find it a big deal and may even feel better having reduced your hold on the stuff.

be careful storing bottles in your shed
winter before last we stored 48 2lt bottles of fizzy water in our shed
(we have a big shed with 2nd freezer, tumble dryer etc out there)

i heard a HUGE bang and went out to investigate
they had frozen and were exploding
i quickly shut the door and just had to leave them to it they were exploding with such force
little risk that happening this time of year now, but maybe helpful later in the year
