Comet auctions

Has anyone used the Comet auction clearance online site? My fridge freezer has broken down and we need a new one but I am loathe to spend more than I have to (not that we can afford to even if we wanted to :( )

I've never used them, namely because they never end up being much below the store price, then when you add delivery can be even more. There used to be a thread on here about them a few years back some thought it was a scam started up by Comet who wanted to get the maxmum possible for their products. Never did get to prove this by the way, just don't go hoping for an excellent price.

Was on there yesterday and saw a washing machine go for 224 pounds plus 30 pounds delivery and had just seen the same one for 242 pounds with free delivery from Sainsburys. Probably similar at other retailers. (Apologies, my pound sign's hiding)

I actually bought a Neff oven from them when I was having a new kitchen installed. Got it for approx half shop price and though it was described as having minor scratches on front, I couldn't see a thing wrong with it when it arrived.

Would definitely buy from again if the price was right, but it seems very much the luck of the draw if you can nab a bargain or not.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
