Hi Guys,
Does anyone know of any decent wool/yarn shops in the Birmingham area? My two local ones have recently closed
I'm fairly new to knitting and would prefer to be able to pick my yarn by hand rather than buying off the internet all the time, and I find it hard to pick the right shade.
I ventured to house of fraser today and the prices are rather high!
Any help much appreciated

'Christine's' on Bournville Green have a good selection with a good variety of brands from reasonably priced to quality yarns.

I'll keep an eye open when I'm out and about: I think there's a small place in Bearwood Market and one in Acocks Green, at the back of the key cutting shop. The Bearwood Tapestry people would know for sure,as well as these people in Kings Heath.

Try Aldi as they were selling large balls of wool the other day. I also know that the St Mary's Hospice Shop in Rubery, nr Bham (no. 63 bus from the city centre) sells wool.

There's a google map of UK knitting stores:
http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?msa=0&msid=111287046617801714876.0004367756018bc4ced50&ll=52.670296,-1.198497&spn=4.817425,14.611816&z=7&om=1
It was started by someone on Ravelry (strongly recommend joining Rav!). It's very useful if you are visiting/going on holiday to other areas!
Also, on the Ravelry British Knitters forum you will find reviews of shops.
