I really want one of these! In my younger years I used to do a spot of DJ'ing, I have an enormous collection of 12" records. I am wanting to convert them to MP3 but dont want to spend a fortune on it! Here is the cheapest I've found http://www.firebox.com/index.html?dir=firebox&action=product&pid=1401&src_t=t20¤cy_conversion=1
Using a £5 voucher I have , I can get it delivered for £114

Cheapest way is to get one of these:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Griffin-Technology-iMic-Audio-Interface/dp/B00006BALQ
I've used it for vinyl, cassettes and even from the TV... haven't seen the turntables for less than £120.0 -
I was thinking of one of those, what's it like in practice?0

I've been more than happy with the results — took me a little while to figure out the settings and unless you're sat there doing it you can end up editing things but the quality's very good. You do have to compress the file to mp3 from its original size, don't know how it compares to the USB turntable but I've no complaints.0 -
Thanks for your replys, suggestions are great and a lot cheaper the only problem is, when I gave up DJ'ing I sold my Decks Amps, mixer etc. only kept the record collection, I have a Stereo with a turntable though which is very large and kept Downstairs and My Pc is upstairs, I would need to move either or and I don't have the room to store another piece of equipment in either room, I thought the USB Turntable would be the best bet! Might just splash out and get one! Still got money people gave me from christmas to use up!0

If you're into hifi equipment and sound quality you'll probably hate the USB turntable awful.
If I were you I'd probably buy a CD Recorder for the hifi, then once you've recorded the CDs you can rip them to the computer.0
