Credit Rating

I am applying for a remortgage so that I can switch from my current lender (Direct Line - who no longer do mortgages) but I have a couple of Late Payments listed on my Equifax credit report against my name which actually relate to a disputed Vodafone bill that was run up by my estranged wife. Vodafone have removed the outstanding balance so it no longer appears as outstanding on my credit report, however the Late Payments stll exist on there and Vodafone/Equifax say they cant remove them.

I have been refused a mortgage recently and can only assume that these late payments are what is stopping its acceptance, as I have no other credit issues and have never been refused credit before. I am a home owner and have been in Full time employment for that past 10 years or so. Does anyone have any advice about what I should do to get a lender to take me on?

Just need to find a lender that will accept the late payments, this may or may not be possible depending on the rest of your situation.

I would get a copy of your credit report if you have not already done so so you can see how many late payments there are as this will help determine which lenders will accept your case

To be honest, as the above post says its a case of finding a lender. Forget the likes of First Direct and HSBC theyre very fussy.

You have 2 options really, get ringing round various lenders see if they will accept you based on the late payments (try to speak to the mortgage department not just a branch) or get a mortgage advisor involved.

Obviously im a bit biased but i would be inclined to get an advisor invovled as you could end up spending hours or days rining round and an advisor could probably narrow it down within minutes based on experience and then find a definate answer in no time at all.

    Hi FlopMyNUtz,

Whilst I can't guarantee that the outcome will be favourable to you I'd be happy to get this looked into further.

As such, could you email me with the relevant details via the Contact us form here quoting the code WRT135 - MSE Fao Lee in the subject line?

Once sent you'll receive an automated reply with a reference number. To ensure that it reaches me could you update the thread with this and I'll get back to you as soon as possible?

    Thanks,

    Lee
