In a few weeks it will be our daughters birthday. She lives in America and has a husband who is seriously ill with cancer. I want to send her a lightweight gift and thought of a hamper. Where can I buy the small size of toiletries. Any other ideas please. She Is wonderful with craft so I have ordered her a Tone Finnanger book to go with the hamper but stuck with other fun and nice ideas.

Small size toiletries can be bought in supermarkets and places like Boots and Superdrug, they're often in a 'holiday' section near the other toiletries.
Other ideas - could you get her some lightweight craft supplies. Perhaps look through the book you've got her and get her some things she'd need to make the projects in there. I'm thinking things like felt, ribbon, buttons as these are all lightweight.
Hope that helps

I was really surprised to see you asking for ADVISE think you are usually in the giving position. It's not like you to be stuck for ideas!
Your daughter is gonna love the book an bits of felt, ribbons trimming to go with the projects is a wonderful idea Nickyboo :-)
Sethsgran why not fill a little organza bag with notes ( happy memories, childhood etc or inspirational thoughts - I know you won't be short of those from following you in other threads) when she's struggling (and trying so so hard not to show it ) it'd be nice for her to dip in a get a little message from her Mum and Dad to keep her strong or make her smile. Maybe 25 notes for your 25 pth birthday or however old she is iykwim.
I know from experience that she will be keeping everything together for the sake of her family. On a happy note my DDH was given three weeks to live six years ago and we are excitedly booking a family holiday with the two DGDS he shouldn't have been alive to see :-) There is always hope. The secret of Christmas

Nanamia thank you for the kind words and the gift of hope. She will be 37 but I am certain I can come up with 37 beautiful thoughts of her.
She posted on my Facebook last night "The best moms get promoted to grandma" not sure I qualify for best mum but thought the quote was worth sharing.Nothing Changes if Nothing Changes0 -
How lovely. I'm definitely not the best Mum:( but I'm gonna adapt her quote slightly to "promoted to Nanas" (ha ha)The secret of Christmas

It could be framed for a mothers day present next year or a birthday present. I think I would do a stitchery of itNothing Changes if Nothing Changes0
