Predicament -
I have been living in Australia for the last 4 years and i have a little debt on my credit card. I need to leave australia to go back home to the uk and look after my dad.
Is it possible to obtain a loan from the uk whilst in australia? I have bank accounts in the uk but i havent used them for some time.
The amount is small at around 3000 pounds.
ANy ideas?

The help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

I'm no expert but I doubt it. I presume you won't have had any money going into these uk bank accounts since you've been in oz? Also I don't think a bank would lend you £ if ur perm residency isn't in that country. Ud need to return to the uk and re build a relationship w ur bank inc getting a regular wage paid into ur acc again. And by this time I'm sure u could have paid off a chunk of the CC debts?

I don't really see what the point of this plan is? If its only 3k why don't u just knuckle down and pay it off? Surely u can do this from the uk if need be?

You won't get a loan in the UK if you are not resident here. Even after you become resident and even assuming you will be earning here you'll probaby find it difficult to get credit here for quite some time, maybe more than a year.

Is the credit card with the debt a UK or australian credit card?
Why do you need a loan to pay it? even if its australian you would still be able to make payments to it once you return to the UK.

(Nearly?) all banks insist on 3 years continuous residency before allowing credit.
