Good Morning Elite. x

My mum has finally got an Oncology appointment for Monday, so she will see what her prognosis is and what treatment she is to try.

I'm still waiting for my appointment to come through for my MRI scan. It's such a worry having to wait. Can't help but fear the worst under the circumstances.

11 year old DS had an awful headache last night. I put him to bed and thought that he just needed a good sleep. However, after a few minutes he called me to his bedroom. He was really distressed and finally told me that he lays in bed at night and worries about dying and what happens after you die.

I'm not particularly religious (and find it hard to believe in any afterlife etc), but for my son's sake, I tried to speak about life after death, which he is already familiar with. However, he worries thatven life after death can't go on forever, and that it must come to an end eventually - and then what? We spoke about the possibility of reincarnation, but even that didn't satisfy him, and he said that even if that happened and was true, there's got to be only a certain amount of times someone could be reincarnated.

My DS is a very bright boy, and obviously a deep thinker, and I hate to imagine him laying there in his bed every night worrying about things that I can't answer or even give him some sort of explanation for.

Does anyone have an idea of what on earth I could say to him that might ease his mind please?

Sorry to be such a grump at this time of the morning. I just can't bear to see either of my children in such a state.

Hope you all have a good day xx

ChelseaGirl sounds like you are going through so much - I know it is hard not to worry about scans, think I have mentioned on here before that I was fast tracked through the system for an MRI and then a nuclear imaging scan - I think my life was in turmoil for a couple of months I tried to focus on my then 2 year old DD and living in the moment rather than focussing on what might or might not be - easier said than done though so ((((hugs)))).

I think that all children go through this questioning stage and have a realisation of death - with my daughter all I did was talk to her about my beliefs and reassured her that these big questions are normal things that everyone considers

Ahh the quote thing has lost me some of my quotes - but thanks to Glitchhunter for the info on the simply add and sorry but forgot the poster who mentioned the prawns a BIG thank you to you as well

Have a great day all

I'm off to bed.. got an early start tomorrow. It's my 20 wk baby scan at 8am at the hosp. We don't want to know the sex but I'm convinced it's a boy and will be looking for "spuds" on the screen ;)
Night night xx

I hope everything went well with your scan this morning and that all important parts were hidden. I'd be the same in your shoes and would want the sex of the little one a surprise at the birth.

Ok I have a question that is completely OT ... really numpty ... and relates to my TV.

I have a flat screen TV on the wall (far above little fingers) and today I finally got an electrician to move the socket to behind the screen. Now I can't turn the bloomin' thing off. The power switch on the front of the TV and on remote just switches it to standby ... I've tried looking for another physical switch along the sides of the set but can't see/feel any and I can't get my hand to the plug or the socket switch.

PS ... I have downloaded a manual which is tells you how to do everything apart from switch the damn thing off ... oh and I also found this on a FAQ link on a product support site but think it really is referring to a Power button not an 'off' switch. :(
Does my TV have an 'off' switch?

All new LG TVs (April ’09 onwards) have an 'off' switch. This is located with the other control buttons on the TV, either on the right hand side on the unit or on the bottom edge. Prior to April '09, TVs made after 2006 did not have an off switch, although some did have a physical standby switch.
Anyone any ideas? :( Am I ok to go to bed?
On my LG it's on the bottom right of the tv, it's a not a button but touchscreen
:(

Getting fairly close to the end of our supply of these - and we did have quite a lot :). Am hoping they will go to half price again so I can pick up some more with the 50p MOC. Maybe they will issue another £1 MOC to promote the new flavour

edit - just went back on to try in DDs name and all boxes gone, but there is a 50p pdf MOC instead .....

I tried to quote your earlier post, but somehow lost it! I'm intrigued, how was the last chapter of Allen Carr?! Also, have you cut down/quit whilst reading the rest of it?

I bought the book but I'm too scared to start reading!!Sounds stupid probably, but the idea of never having another ciggie really terrifies me! :o I don't even know why really, can't put my finger on it.

I felt exactly the same! I was terrified of giving up and didn't believe a book could help. You don't cut down while you read it and I timed my last ciggie with the last chapter. Just go for it. You've got nothing to lose by reading it. I'm not sure if it has worked for me yet (haven't had a ciggie this morning and would have normally had a couple by now) but trying to think positively :D

Good morning everyone.

A gloomy day in the north west with slight rain - I find this weather really depressing and need blue sky and sunshine to lift my mood.

I can't believe I've been off work for a whole week now. I'd huge plans to do lots of jobs around the house and sorting out clothes etc but haven't achieved any of it yet.

Right, off to catch up from last night as quite a few pages have appeared. I don't know who's been doing all the gassing whether it's the night or morning crew, but I'll soon find out.
