Bankruptcy Help

Hi,

I work for the NHS and earn a rediculously low amount of money, a little above 12K and have debts around the 12/13K mark.

I have been struggling to pay bills for the last few years and it has finally come to a head after my local council has now slapped a 3rd attachements to earnings order on my salary taking my take home pay to around £650 a month.......... (for full time hours) firstly as i cannot clearly afford to pay my bills, and would have no hope in paying the fees that seem "Picked Out of the Air" if there is any financial help i would be eligable to receive to assist me to pay the fees....

I have often thought about quitting my job, and then finding another and not inform the council immediatly of the change to temporarily "dispose" of the ATE to enable me to fund the courts & OR fees, but am very reluctent to do that, as it would mean i would lose any possibility of the trust paying my uni fees for my nursing degree and i would lose my home as i live in Key Worker accomadation.....

any help would be gratefuly received.

Matt... :o

  • The bR fee is two part... £325 paid by everyone and an additional £150 for the court fee, which can be wiaved if on certain benefits: income support, IB-JSA, BOTH tax credits...

It can also be waived if you are on low income but you need to provide evidence on the day of all your expenditure items... contact your local court to discuss fee remission, they will advice whether you may be eligible based on your income..

Some people have found that the DWP will provide loans to pay for BR so maybe contact them about htis... it cannot be written off in BR...

Other ways if you do not qualify based on income for fee remission:

Some utility companies provide grants which will cover the costs of BR - British Gas, United Utilities... see the website of your supplier to see if they give grants...

Served any time in the Forces...? The Royal Britsh Legion can pay the costs... get in touch with your local RBL about this...
