The price of gas

That would be quite high. About 123kWh per day equals about 24kW per hour the heating is running. Do you have the temperature set high for the 5 hours per day? Do you hear the boiler cycling on and off over the 5 hours or is it running continuously. When you say 30 hours per week is that with the temperature set to 21 and the remaining time the temperature is set to a night time temperature such as 15 degrees?downnotout wrote: »Both actual, heating on average 30 hours a week, gas cooker and one bath run daily.
Have you compared tariffs and thought about switching?
If you are worried about it then try and read the meter much more regularly until you figure out the problem. If you leave for work at a particular time each day such as 7am then as you pass the meter on your way to work then just jot down the reading in a diary each day.:footie:

It's the opposite...old boilers waste 35% of energy straight out the flue as they are 65% efficient and do not recover any of it and new boilers waste about 20% straight out the flue but recover half of that wasted heat so the total loss only becomes 10% therefore 90% efficiency can be achieved of the boiler is condensing some of that waste heat.Vikipollard wrote: »We replaced our boiler this year as the one we had was 30 years old and rated below G, wasting 65% of what it used, no temperature control.
What age is your boiler ~ could be that it's inefficient and using more than you'd expect maybe?:footie:
