Adverse credit and shared owndership

Hello all,

New poster here, looking for some honest advice.

I am in the process of dealing with an independent mortgage adviser. I am looking for a £35000 mortgage with a 10% deposit. This is for a 40% share. They have come back saying that due to adverse credit this is looking unsuccessful.

I have a default on my credit history from 2009, which is paid off and a couple of missed payments in 2011. My debts currently total £600, which I am making all the payments for regularly. These missed payments in 2011, were by a couple of days each.

Am I destined not to get this mortgage? I currently pay more rent than the mortgage payments would be and I have never missed a rent payment, which is in excess of £550.

Thanks for any advice received. :)
