Gumtree AD. £1200 up front fee for agency?

Just been on gumtree and came across an advert , Labour wanted £1200 upfront fee for agency , who will guarantee 2 years work at £600 a week. For one, do they think people are stupid enough to pay £1200 up front in this work climate and secondly what labourer could pay that anyway. The contact is just a gmail email which just made the whole thing look like a rip off.
Any views?

I'd wind them up and email them, then refuse to pay their £600 until they give you the name of the place you'll be working, then say you'll pay them after 3 weeks of work with a 25% increase for having to wait for the money!
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

I might just do that as I think its my lucky day. I have justgot an email to say I have won the Spanish lottery, I didnt know I bought a ticket and another says I am rich in Nigeria and just have to pay a fee to get my money. Funny how things come in 3s.
I cannot believe rip off merchant are allowed to get away with it, in this day and age. What chance have we got with Governments that let companies like Wonga trade?
    Thanks to you both.

Personally I would report it. It's illegal for an agency to charge a fee for employment.

I agree with you but I just think it will get nowhere. Having watched a police show last night, I swear I will not watch again as none of the offenders received anything like a real sentence. It was sad to see incompetent our government really is.

    Report the ad on Gumtree
Head over to scamwarners.com and post the ad body so anyone searching like you did has a chance of finding the scamwarners link/warning
Then (optionally) visit 419eater.com and get some hints on how to SAFELY yank the chains of the scammer.
