Renting Proerty iN Northern Ireland

Is it particulary hard to rent property in NI. My wife is trying to find a property on her one and has been turned down by 3 landlords now, even though the estate agents say her credit profile etc is fine. Is the main problem because she wants to be on her own with the kids and she is not DHSS? Has any one else had this problem?

I'm on my own with two kids and not DHSS either, and I've just been passed over on a house I wanted and I suspect that the winning tenant is DHSS. So annoyed because I had registered my interest in that particular property a good while ago when I found out that the (then) current tennants only wanted a 6 month contract. I'm not in dire straits as I have a lovely property but it's on the top end of my budget and I wanted a smaller house with smaller utility bills and cheaper rent. Still I hope this isn't the way it's going to be.....0

This might be regional. I've never had any trouble (non DHSS) renting in South Belfast or the city centre. In fact every LL I've rented from in the past wouldn't accept DHSS anyway. Out of interest what levels of rent are we talking here?0

Me nither (Non DHSS Large house) We did have one a few years ago that we put in for but the estate agent were sneeky and waitad untill they had a lot of applications then let the owned decide, we pulled out due to it taking so long (4 weeks).
Our recent move in Feb we applied and got an answer within a day and paperwork signed within the week, it was a different agent though.

Good houses go quickly!
My friend rents her house on the cityside of Donegall Road. When the time comes for the existing tenants to move on, it usually goes to either the 1st or 2nd viewer.
Pity, it's just gone again last weekend.0 -
Property over here is crazy! I moved back here from London and I thought it was hard THERE when moving to a new place. Over here houses go within a day or 2 of going up and trying to get the first viewing is so darn hard.
Good luck OP with finding a lovely new home0
