Mortgage with past repossession?

Hi All

I've had a mortgage with Santander (was A&L initially) for 5 years now and need to add my husband onto mortgage to be able to prove that we can afford to port the outstanding balance to a new home. We are not looking for any additional money.

My husband had a house repossessed over 6 years ago before we were married, all was settled at the time i.e. no mortgage shortfall. The repossession has now dropped of his credit report. Is Santander likely to agree to add him do you think or are we better off looking elsewhere?

Thanks

    It depends
Its not just as simple as 'adding' someone to a mortgage I'm afraid, you have to go through a re-application process for the two of you, as if you were taking out a brand new mortgage.
Does your husband have a good credit score nowadays? has he checked with several of the providers? Permanent employment?
Its anyones guess to be honest, the only way you will know for sure is to re apply! Good luck
  • Santander??..dont hold your breath
