Yes, I would recommend a Nicer Dicer. I bought one for my Mum for the very same reason and she loves hers. Shop around as the price varies a lot.TL0

I have a Nicer Dicer ( paid £30 for it from Argos) and I find it very useful for making soups/stews/salads. One day I hope to buy a proper steel mandoline but for now this does me just fine.0

I see that there has been alot of suggestions now, but wanted to add, I know two people who have got the Pampared Chef one and both people have put the choppers to the back of the cupboard.
One said its a pain in the whatsit to clean and another says it just falls apart - (which is the bit which is meant to make it easy to clean) or ended up chopping the onion into small enough bits for the chopper to chop that she might has well carry on with the knive:mad:
