My son had terrible cough, sometimes with blood.( he had two major heart operations , same problem with all kids) tried every available cough syrup. Nothing worked
Gave him some calpol, worked brilliant.
Agree with the doctor, dont waste your money( i have been told by doctor as well)

Benylin chesty cough comes in 2 forms, one non drowsy which is the newer of the 2 and can be picked up off the shelf, the other, original one has to be bought from a pharmacy, but as with all chesty cough medicines they are designed to make you cough more, which loosens the phlegm ( not sure of spelling, sorry!) and helps you cough it up! Which is why people think they don't work, if you want to suppress a cough you are better of with something like pholcodiene

i have a throat infection at present and the cough mixture isnt a placebo for me, tho im not coughing so much as just a painful throat, which it does successfully take the 'edge' off.
