Hi all
I'm going to try to recreate a healthier hm version of a sausage and egg mcmuffin. I've bought some pork mince to make a 'sausage pattie', but I actually have no idea what to do with it!
Any ideas much appreciated xx

My suggestion would be to make a kind of burger out of the sausage meat.0

Mush it up with a beaten egg, some breadcrumbs and some mixed herbs and season. Shape into a pattie shape, chill if required in advance and then dry fry (the fat in the pork should be adequate).
Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

I haven't got sausage meat
I sillily bought minced pork:rolleyes: What could I add to make it taste like that? 0 -
Pork mince is sausage meat! Just add mixed herbs, salt and pepper with the egg and breadcrumbs - it will be fine!

Don't forget the gherkin, mustard and tom sauce if you want the real experience.
Mum makes her own burgers out of turkey mince - but they always taste undercooked to me - even though they're not (one of Mum's bugbears is undercooked meat!)

Thanks for your help, this turned out well, everyone ate it, always a good sign. Used some wholemeal muffins that I bought reduced in Tesco's, eggs and cheese, and of course the pork mince. Think I need to make the burgers a little thiner next time, as by the time they were cooked in the middle, they were abit overdone on the outside! But on the whole, a success, and at least I know exactly what's in them, unlike the McD's ones

Get yourself down to Farmfoods and buy a pack of their Lorne Sausage (Hint - its square) let it defrost and cut it circular with a pastry cutter, put it in a barely warm contact grill (George Forman thingie) for about 57 seconds, until just grey in the middle and burnt a bit on the outside ( Actually it is painted on Gravy Browning and they are microwaved) then you need a gallon can of egg yolks and a two gallon can of egg whites which you mix through a dispenser into a ring mold and steam for about ermmmm 15 seconds ish (until rubbery). Add a slice of the cheapest processed cheese you can find (about 44p for 10 so far!) then put the lot in a factory pre-toasted Muffin (Muffin - My bottom!!!) and zap the whole lot for 20 seconds - Wrap in greaseproof paper and let it sweat till luke warm and charge a fortune for it.
Dead easy and healthy as well.

I got quite addicted to egg mcmuffins a few weeks ago due to the free coffee at McDonalds voucher in the Metro. So, I decided to make my own at home! I used a silicone egg circle from Quality Save to make it round and look more like the real thing. Check out the price difference (all ingredients bought from Tesco):
1 x white muffin - 12p
1 x free range egg - 24p
1 x dairylea cheese slice - 12p
48p! A third of the price of a McDonalds one - and would be cheaper (27p) if you used non-free range eggs (which I wouldn't) and cheaper processed cheese (which I wouldn't).
And it means I'm not giving McDonalds any money, which is the best reward of all.
Now, off to make my Sunday morning muffin! Om nom nom.0
