Student Loan CCJ

Just been checking my report at Equifax and its thrown up a few things. First there is a ccj I knew nothing about from 28/08/2001. Turns out it was my student loan. I didn't pay it due to fighting the big C which thankfully appears to be something I have one. I had been getting letters but to be honest didn't really care. I owe around £1800 and while I can't pay alot because I'm not back at work yet they have agreed for me to pay £15 a month until I can afford to pay more. Now I think I'm right in assuming that Student Loans and their payments are not reported to CRA's in the way that credit cards are. What worries me though is that there are some searches on there from Honours. They are not listed in the other searches that potential lenders can't see but under the credit searches that they can see and the reason for the search is given as Outstanding Debt. Honours claim not to have made the searches that appear in the credit search section, only that they searched to see where I might be as I wasn't responding to any communication. I've filled a protest with Equifax to get them removed, what do you think my chances are? Although not an issue right now, I understand that Outstanding Debt searches stay on your file for 6 years. I have no idea how much of an effect they have on your rating but my gut feeling is they can't be good.
As a side note today has proved how important it is to check both Experian and Equifax. None of the info regarding the CCJ or searches was listed with Experian so if anyone else hasn't do so yet, check both so you know exactly where you are.

Just another question folks.
Will the ccj drop off my report in August of ths year as it will be six years then? Does that mean the debt is no longer enforcable?0 -
yes and no
the ccj will drop off your report after six years but the CCJ remain enforceable although they may have to go to court to enforce it.0 -
Much appreciated Clapton, I'm more worried about the searches I suppose.0

As far as I am aware student loans are in the same category as crown / government debts and remain enforceable for a minimum 12 years rather than the 6 allowed for civil CCJ's.
however as Clapton quite rightly states the order will naturally expire from your credit file after 6 years:rolleyes: It’s hard enough remembering my opinions - without remembering my reasons for them :rolleyes:0
