To celebrate the start of the 2012 Olympics a family fun day is being held at Eirias Park, Colwyn Bay on 27th July.

There will be events taking place throughout the day culminating in a free concert in the evening in the new rugby stadium (gates open 4pm).

Admission to the concert is free but you'll need a ticket and no tickets will be available on the day. Tickets, including both standing and seating, are available from 30th March from either Eirias Park, Theatr Colwyn in Colwyn Bay or Venue Cymru in Llandudno. Maxiumum of 6 per person.

The concert will feature Only Men Aloud, Big Country (now fronted by former Alarm singer and 'local' lad Mike Peters), Sophie Evans (currently starring at the London Palladium as Dorothy in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Wizard of Oz), Côr Glanaethwy (runners-up to Only Men Aloud in Last Choir Standing) and Mezzo-soprano Sioned Terry so there's basically something for almost everyone. Coverage of the Olympic opening ceremony will be broadcast on a large screen for anyone who is interested.

The official website for the event is here -

Please note the other concert featuring Olly Murs and Pixie Lott is not a freebie.

The fridge is empty, the walls are damp, there's no hot water
And I look like a tramp and tramps like us
Baby we were born to walk
