Another Payday Loan Idiot

Hi

I very stupidly took out a payday loan in December from Wonga, which i have been rolling over. I now owe over £1100.

I then proceeded to have the most rubbish start to the year ever! My mother inlaw passed away, my instrument cluster broke on my focus (£400) and my dog tore her cruciate (sp) ligement (£950).

To top it all after trying for a baby for eight years i suffered a miscarriage and have had to have 3 weeks off of work on SSP.

I really dont know what to do, i have no money for important bills let alone paying Wonga. I have tried to contact them but they wont set up a repayment plan until it has defaulted.

Please can someone please point me in the right direction because my head just isnt working and i feel so usless.

Sorry for the long post

Sorry to hear you are struggling at the moment. Anything to do with money can be fixed over time, the same cannot be said for your health, so try to stay calm. You maybe need to post an SOA so advice can be offered on where you could find the extra money you need. Try to keep positive.

Starting point - open a new basic bank account with a company that has no relationship with your current bank and card provider.

Move all your income into that account NOW.

Get the other account closed and the card stopped.

Okay i have a different bank account and have just telephoned work to get my wages transferred, thats next month sorted. I have also spoken to the council / gas / electric and they will let me have a month off so it is just Wonga to worry about.

Its only money and if i aint got it they cant have it!

I have emailed them an offer anyway as i should soon be going back to work.

Thank you for putting it into perspective for me, i was having a panic x

Just to update i have finally plucked up the courage to speak to wonga again and they were suprisingly helpful (have still changed bank account though). I have set up a payment plan that i can afford.

I feel like a weight has lifted off my shoulders

    Thank you

    Thanks Leon.

Have you actually started repaying them yet? Because they promised me the same thing last month and then they took the full amount when my pay came in.
  • Yes mate, all paid up (started last year) kept their word........

Interesting. I sent off an email today. Explaining everything, detailing my finances, and what happened last month. Got a reply back there now saying they would assess my situation and get back to me. I can afford to pay back quite a chunk (£150-£200) per month so hoping they will agree.
