DMP Issues

Hello
This is my first post so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules or etiquette!
My situation is as follows...
I am currently in a DMP with Payplan, I pay £371 per month and have not missed a payment in 20 months.
My financial situation is currently changing dramatically as I am due to give birth to my first child in four weeks. I am not entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay due to my length of service with my employer. Essentially, my income is going to drop by a massive £1200 per month.
Obviously, I'm willing to make as many sacrifices as I need to but to ensure I could buy a pram this month, I cancelled my standing order with Payplan without even consulting them first. It was on a Friday evening and the money was due to come out on the Monday - they were closed over the weekend so I panicked and just cancelled it!
I suppose my question is: Has anyone been in a similar situation and had a dramatic change in circumstances? Can anyone advise me on how to approach this with Payplan? I'm not trying to dishonour my agreement...I just really needed a pram!
Any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Hi jj2909
Contact Payplan aasp and see if you can make token payments for now. Can you get Maternity Allowance instead? If you look at the Directgov website it gives the details on there. Tax Credits and Council Tax benefit could be worth claiming once your income drops, send for the forms now so you don't delay your application.0 -
Speak to them - they're on your side.
Ring them up, explain the changes in your circumstances and see what advice they offer you....Ninja Saving Turtle0 -
As the others have said, do give them a call. I can understand why you panicked, you can be assured that they will do their best to help you and will understand your anxiety. They know people's cirumstances can change, this happens all the time, and they can probably go through a revised budget with you to see what you can now afford.
Good luck with Payplan and with your forthcoming new arrival ....0
