Can I solve NI contribution gap ?

Been seriously ill for 3 years but not been able to get DLA ( I fit World Health Authority criteria for severe illness but not DLA criteria), Partners income above threshold for employment support allowance. I Have 4 year gap in NI contributions as was full time student and only worked P/T during that so contributions limited. So not entitled to contribution based employment support allowance. So I have no income apart from what my partner provides. looks like I will be off sick a while longer, worried gap in NI contributions getting bigger and time marching on ( mature student) any advice or suggestions as my NI contributions Nil for past few years and its getting serious. Any constructive advice would be helpful. thanks :j

    hi

i know someone in a similar situtation, when they have top up the shortfall by making one-off voluntary payments.
