Bank of Scotland/ Halifax default

Have a agreement in place with the above for monthly payments with a review due in july this year , now today they have sent a default notice ending our agreemnet and handing it over to a debt collecting agency now only thing is that i sent off the monthly payment cheque early morning before i got the above letter .
will they still cash the cheque although they have ended our agreement or shoulld i stop it and wait to make payment arrangments with the DCA ?
