Starting a Clothing Label Advice

Hello all
Just hoping to pick someones brains here. My friend and I have some unique and amazing idea's/designs for items of clothing etc. We're not sure where to go or what to do now though. We'd love to sell - but should we start up ourselves or try to sell our ideas and designs to an established company? Any help REALLLLLY appreciated,

I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.
