Buying Second Hand furniture

Hi,

I'm starting to look into buying a house and as I've no furniture I'll need to furnish the property when I get it - this property will be in S.E. Belfast.

As I'm a first time buyer, I'll need to furnish this place with a mixture of second hand and new items.

What I am looking for is the names/addresses of some good places to purchase good quality second hand furnishings - ideal for a home - not some type of cheap rental.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks,

Welcome!

we recently bought and also had no furniture

most stores will take anything from 4 to 12 weeks on new products - sale stuff usally to be picked up within a week

gumtree and ebay have been useful to pick up bits and bobs but since the house is quite modern feel about it most stuff is not suitable.

if you have storage for stuff start looking now if not u might be restricted to later date

on the look out for garden furniture now but will prob grab something second hand and wait for the big end of summer clearence to pick up decent stuff for next year
    Wins so far:
£1,800, campari platter, limited edition peroni bottle opener, sharp blu ray player, £600 Karen Millen shopping spree, £550 limited edition blind, Capetown 7 day holiday, Tshirt, £100 Tesco Voucher, £100 Arcadia vouchers, 7 day Europe tour, £100 hotel voucher, limited edition capitan morgan bottle, 1 month bus pass travel.

Try the local SVP or Salvation Army shops, seriously, you get some cracker furniture in them, we moved recently and disposed of all our Mahogany living room stuff as it didn't match the new house (according to the boss:o)

The Salvation Army did very well indeed from our house move. I have to say it is the only charity shop I have ever got a smile and a thank you from :)
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:

OP I would also suggest charity shops. You would be amazed at how much nearly new furniture comes to them from house clearances of deceased people, whose houses have to be sold.

I bought a good leather suite from the cancer charity shop on the Ormeau Road.

I go to Bangor Auctions at times, some decent stuff there to kit a place out.
