I think it's the actual company that wants this and not the agency, although I could be wrong.
This is a major international company btw.

You only normally need that much references if you're working in a high security area, like an airport, or it's a position working with children, etc.

Whats the job type? Is it something that would warrant something like that? I think this requirement is way above and beyond necessary unless its something rather special as a job!

Do you know any friends who are solicitors, doctors etc? Could you ask one of them?

I'd be the same as the OP... nobody knows me either. And even if I knew people, I don't know people with posh jobs.

The world is going slowly more and more mad...... and we can expect more of this type of OTT request in the coming years. With more and more people moving more often and greater distances, the OP's situation isn't unusual, yet you can be viewed/treated as if you were a leper if you don't tick their nice boxes.

I would be honest and tell them you are having trouble finding someone who meets all the criteria. Your best option is to offer someone who has known you for the three years and state what their occupation is. Don't lie though, it will come back to bite you on the bum. If they don't accept this then balls in their court and they will have to withdraw their offer. Is there some kind of security involved with the job? what is the nature of the Company?

Old teacher friend, who I haven't spoken to for over 1 year just called me.... so I should be able to use him :)

Thanks for all the suggestions though.
