Indeed £45k for driving a tanker is to me a good deal in comparison.

BBC still reporting panic since the minister mentioned Jerry cans funny that the panic was reported 24hrs before his remarks. Good old lefty BBC

I don't really understand where this panic buying is.
My, albeit small sample, of 8 fuel stations i drove past last night and past again this morning.

    Last night:-

6 had nobody on the forecourt at all, 1 had a couple of cars and a van.
The supermarket (ASDA) station was busy but no more so than any other evening.
There were no queues into the road anywhere.

I did pass a 7.5 tonner that had run out of fuel and was filling from a jerry can. :o

This morning, all had no more than 3 vehicles on the forecourt.
Media is just stirring as far as i am concerned.

    Yes, another media driven frenzy.
We'll have people driving from one petrol station to another hoping to find the TV cameras so they can have their 30 seconds of fame on the news next :rotfl:

I agree, I did see a slightly bigger Que than usual last night but no more. It seems to me that there is this panic every one.

I didn't find anything wrong with what Francis Morde said either keeping a can of fuel in the garage and/or shed if you really need your transport sounds sensible to me. Yet then you hear the fire brigade union suggesting keeping barrels of the stuff in the house is dangerous!!

Wow I didn't know that! I was going to leave the 3 barrels by the side of the open fire derrrr

Try a google search,or just keep asking the blindingly ignorant question.

I tried but just got a daily mail article, which said it was all about Len McClusky wanting to bring down the government and saying how great the 70s were for "the workers".

Still have not seen a list of the (potential) strikers SPECIFIC demands.

    All seems a bit vague.

He has a point though ;) It is strange that since the unions and working man were neutered, conditions and pay have deteriorated drastically for the young and old workers alike, well maybe not so strange, rather it is probably an obvious outcome

Bet the odds are better than going to Afghanistan though and do we pay them £45k? !!

Why does it always have to be a race to the bottom? soldiers on active duty should be paid more.

Seems to say they want paying extra for unsociable hours and early starts -surely tanker driving has always had them.

They only want certified drivers on tankers - isn't that already the case.

They do not want to feel rushed - there are already regulations regarding working hours etc.

They keep changing employer which makes pensions complicated - why not arrange private pensions.

    Ther you go, already sorted.

Wasn't it McClusky who caused all the grief a few years ago with BA staff? Seem to remember nobody got anything out of that one either.
