Reclaiming Pensions

Is anyone able to help?
A few years ago I worked for my local police force as civilian support staff and as per the norm had a percentage of my wages paid monthly into a local government pension scheme. This lasted for about approximately two years until unfortunately I got the sack.
Does anyone know if I am able to claim the money paid into the pension scheme without transferring it to another pension?

You say you worked for them for approximately two years.

If your employment started before 1st April 2004 you are entitled to a refund of contributions if you were in the pension scheme for less than two years. If you were in the scheme for more than two years you are not entitled to a refund but would have an entitlement to a deferred benefit.

If your membership of the pension scheme started after 1st April 2004 you would only be entitled to a refund if you were in the scheme for less than three months.

    Hope this helps.
