Dress Stress

I should add that I loved dress shopping. It was so much fun! Even in the shops where I didn't like anything, I loved the experience - everyone was so nice and it was lovely to be made a fuss of.
Enjoy it - you only get to do it once! xx 7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs

I went to 10 shops and tried on 45 dresses over 3 days. At the end of each day I was in tears as I just found it so stressful:(
OMG!!! I went to about 20 shops over a 3-month period! 10 shops in 3 days must have been head-melting! I would have had a breakdown. You poor thing.
There was a poster a while back who had the most incredible dress, Zimm190? She posted pics of her wedding, she was very petite and the dress was perfect on her. Can anyone find a link to that thread?
OP - do NOT visit more than 3 shops in one day, and give yourself time after each appointment to reflect on what you've seen, even make little notes. Take pics if the shops will let you.
I promise, your dress is out there, let us know when you find it!

Thank you all so so much for your replies, you've made me feel loads better! I'm defo gonna take some heels next time, good tip! (also the chocolate!!) I feel more positive now that I can find something, I just don't think I've found it quite yet, so will keep looking!!! I will keep you updated!!
I've only visited 2 1/2 shops (as one was so so awful I only class it as a half!!) so I still have some way to go compared to some of you! Lol!

Many, many brides dream of being a size 6, you'll find something and I guarantee you'll look a million dollars. My only advice is to keep it light weight and avoid heavy dresses with lots of layers.0

Have you thought about getting a dress made instead?
I very quickly concluded I didn't want to buy from a shop as I had a firm idea of what would suit me (both figure / skin tone and personality wise) and could see it wasn't going to be something I could find in a shop. Getting it made for you gives you the chance to pick a style you know will flatter your figure and it doesn't have to cost the earth.
I found a very experienced dressmaker who is charging me £20 an hour to make the dress and I'm pretty sure from our discussions so far it will wind up costing me less than I would have spent in a bridal shop, and as I'm not having a white dress, I'll be able to wear it again for black tie do's etc. I rather like the thought that no one else will have a dress the same too.
At size 6 you've got lots of options that aren't available for those of us of more average proportions. I would be inclined to play up to your figure and go for something elegant in a slender column shape.0 -
Any updates, KatieJane?
