scones are best with added baking powderWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

They're usually flour based recipes that need a lift - cakes, biscuits, sweet and savoury scones, some pastries, that kind of thing.0

Self raising flour usually has enough raising agent in product. Victoria sponges or scones are the only things i can think might benefit from baking powder if you want a spectacular result.0

Lots of American recipes call for it. Muffins, 'biscuits' (like a scone), cornbread, North American style pancakes. British baking recipes often use self-raising flour which is basically plain flour with baking powder ready added.0

I tend to have mainly plain flour in my cupboards so keeping some baking powder in is essential if I want to make anything that would normally require self raising flour.
Interesting question, so now I'm curious to know, do you have a glut of it?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Sian is my daughter and I think she is trying to stock her baking cupboard and is wondering if baking powder is needed, as she is on a very tight budgetWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0

I put it on the list as I saw a few weeks ago a recipe that I wanted to try with it in but now can't find or remember the recipe. I was wondering whether to take it off the list or not. I didn't take it off the list in the end but it was only 37p so it wasn't too expensive and hopefully I will find the recipe I liked the look of before!!!0
