How long until you give up on a job application??

I applied for another job in the company I already work for, it would amount to a step up the ladder and a move to a different department.
The deadline for the applications was the 01 of March and I submitted my app a few days before this deadline.
I did follow up on it last week with HR via email but no response at all.
Basically what are folks opinions on my chances of being shortlisted now that I have waited nearly a month? I know I meet the criteria although probably a little inexperienced but I could definitely do the job!!
Cheers for opinions

A month ago? Ask again after Easter, then leave it, it took my last place a decent two months to get on with an internal appointment. If they announce someone in the role before bothering to tell people they haven't got it, then you know HR can't be trusted.0

I'm sure many of us could do the job that we don't get offered.
You should be applying for other jobs, not waiting for a response that you won't get.0 -
If it was an external application I'd have given up by now. However, I'd expect most companies to advise all internal candidates whether or not they have been shortlisted for a job (this is certainly true in my current organisation and previous one), so if I were you I'd call HR and ask them for feedback. Good luck.0
