Scottish Widows & timber frame house

Have found a dream home set by the forest, amazing views, a great family place. Our mortgage company Scottish Widows originally told us we can port our mortgage and top up if need be. We have just been told that they won't do this as the house is part timbered. Just the upper floors not the ground floor which is brick. This was decided over the phone and no one from SW sent out to see the house.:(

We do not want to shop around as have a great rate with them 1.04%, and doubt we will get this anywhere else. Also, we would not be able to afford the massive increase switching would bring about.

Are there any loop holes we can find that might change SW's mind? It's only part timbered and was built in the early 1900s. Surely the fact that the ground floor is brick and damp coursed could make it a goer?
