Threadworms question (Apologies in advance)

Daughter has worms.
We all took an 'Ovex' tablet last night after dinner as apparently the whole family needed to be treated whether we had them or not.
One tablet is supposed to kill them with a follow up tablet 2 weeks later.
However, the worms are still there, and wriggling. I thought she would poo out dead ones now.
Is this treatment not instant?
(We also did the 'fumigate' thing too, cleaned like trojans, washed bedding etc etc.)
Just not sure if it hasn't had a chance to work yet or should it have worked and we need to see Doc?

Having had them in the family many years ago they do take a few days to get killed off, good idea to take a follow up dose as suggested.
Personal hygene is the key though, night time scratching of the "rear" shall we say is when the eggs get under fingernails etc thats how they get back into your system, so first thing to do every morning is to scrub nails with anti bac and a nail brush.
Dont know what is being worn at night but a good idea to wear some pants under pyjamas and change them every morning. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

Thanks.
Funny how some kids seem more prone to getting all sorts whilst others escape. My eldest two never had worms, nits or any other similar thing, but daughter seems to be a magnet for any 'icky' thing going.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Hi
I remember my nephew getting them when he was really young, twice. Can't remember the tablets the family took but the tip about underwear in bed was one we adopted. The other thing we did was to have our own towel each, just incase of transference. Keeping hands and nails clean is also important. It did take a few days to clear up but it does eventually.
Best of luckI got there - I'm debt free and intend to stay that way. If I haven't got the cash, it doesn't get bought. It's as simple as that.0 -
Many years ago they recommended putting a small amount of sticky tape over the anus at night. Apparently the combination of the warmth and the dark would mean the worms would come out at night and some of them would be caught on the sticky tape and then you could tell if your child had worms or at least was clear of them. No doubt now if you did that it would be classed as sexual abuse.
Whilst its not very pleasant, worms are easily transfered from the hand/nails to the mouth by a thumb sucking child. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Lol, I read a page online where the advice was to check the child's back passage with a torch whilst they were sleeping.
Can you imagine them going into school the next day and telling the teacher that one!
My girl is 12. She's at that age where we're not even allowed to say the 'bra' word in front of her Dad, let alone see private bits of her body. :rotfl:
We did poo patrol again this morning, they're still wriggling.
On the upside, my poo is worm free.Just wanted to share.

Aargh can remember having them as a child( quite often I have to add:o) not pleasant experience lol but was my own fault because I used to eat sand( disgusting I know lol) the deworming tabs did take a few days to work as I can remember.
Am I the only one that feels the urge to scratch when I hear the words lice and threadworms lol?LOVE isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live WITHOUT0 -
Warning, don't have anything with bean-sprouts in for a wee while, I had worm's when I was a teen too, had springrolls for dinner 1 night thought the worms had grown the next day when I had to check, thought I was gonna die.
Not sure about sticky tape???? but I have heard that it's worth trimming nails really short as it's easy to scratch in your sleep with it being so maddeningly itchy. I would say if they still seem to be there in a day or too it might be worth having a word with the pharmacist, these type of things can become immune to certain treatments & she could probably get something on prescription under the minor ailments scheme.Booo!!!0 -
