I did a similar thing in 2005, I relocated and my property sat empty whilst on the market with my husband and i paying all bills. After 6 months we decided that we should rent the property but our lender (HSBC) insisted that we swop to a buy to let mortgage otherwise we couldnt rent it out, being stuck with a property that wouldnt sell we didnt have much choice so we went ahead with btl and 7 years later its still being rented.0
