Adding husband onto mortgage - Santander

Hi All
Wonder if someone could help me please? 7 years ago my husband had a house repossessed (this was before we were married and all was settled at the time of sale - it is not showing on his credit report). We bought our current home 5 years ago in my name. We now want to move house and port our Santander mortgage over as I have a really good deal - however they will not let me do this as currently on only my salary I do not pass the affordability check. I will do if I add my husband onto mortgage. My questions are:
1) Would Santander consider adding my husband to mortgage? He has had previous repossession but no money was/is owing and his credit record is now clean. My credit score is excellent and I have had mortgage with them for 5 years with no issues.
2) If not, who would consider us for a mortgage?
Thanks

It all depends upon if Santander find the old repossession using thier specialist systems (not just those public credit files offered by the likes of Experian).
I'd say suck it and see. If they decline, there are some sub prime offers around, but a repossession is a big deal so it's not going to be easy.
Maybe something in your name only perhaps with a guarantor or something might be a better option.
Be careful, every application you attempt is recorded.0 -
Thanks Conrad,
I am assuming that they will ask me outright if either of us has ever had a property repossessed during the application process? Would it be an automatic decline if I said yes or would they take into account my mortgage history with them?
