Some advice please

Hello all. I have never posted on here before, but it looks like the advise you all give is genuine and honest. So I thought I should give it a try.

I have an opportunity to move jobs. The one I am applying for is a wonderful opportunity.

Firstly a little bit of back story... I currently work for a medical company as a product manager. Looking after new products and bringing them to the market.

The company I am considering moving to has a sales role available. The basic salary is very, very good for the current market, and the position comes with a bonus package. It is stated as being 30% of the basic salary.

I feel that this is a bit odd, I thought that it would be more appropriate to bonus a % of the revenue sold??

Could anyone clarify whether this is Normal process. If it is, do I have the power (if I am offered the role) to negotiate a different renumeration package, That is a % oft he revenue instead? Or would this sound like I am money grabbing.

It is not that I am being greedy, but the role has a lot of international travel, and I would be leaving a very comfortable role (not boasting), that I am very good at. For a much more risky role in a new organisation.

Also, (and this is the kicker!!!) what is the likelyhood of the new company continueing to fund my MBA? I am being sponsored by my current employer (and have signed a "money back clause" if I leave within 2 yrs) I would need my new employer to pay me, so that I can pay the old one off.

I know this sounds like a stupid situation, but this new job is the opportunity of a lifetime, for me and my family.

Thank you so much in advance.

you say you 'are applying' for the new job - do you have an offer yet? If not then these are all questions for interview time. Sure, couch some of them in different terms but only the potential new employer can answer them.
The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....

I don't know anything about sales roles but where I work it's normal for the bonus to be a percentage of the salary.

And yes, they absolutely should continue to fund your MBA. You should make it a condition of your offer.
