Job Centre Plus - Employed applicants takes priority

Generally speaking, you'll find almost all 'advisors' at your local Job Centre Plus alleging if two people are applying for the same job and only one person is currently employed, the one employed will get the job.
Then you see all the job adverts announcing they are looking for people immediately available, not people who needs to give their current employer several weeks/months notice to leave.
The next time someone tells you this in Job Centre Plus, you should laugh at their face.

Maybe but those in work do tend to get priority over everyone else, but i often thought when asking for immediate start that the unemployed would have priority over someone who has to work a notice period.0

that is true not just at JCP, but across the boardMrSnuggles wrote: »Generally speaking, you'll find almost all 'advisors' at your local Job Centre Plus alleging if two people are applying for the same job and only one person is currently employed, the one employed will get the job.

I never understood why they do this.
If I was recruiting I'd always go for a keen unemployed person who could start straight away rather than one of these job hoppers.0
