Does anyone still use Yellow pages to advertise?

Was wondering this as I have put in an advert for gardening work, up for 3 days, and haven't got a call as yet. Would like to know others' opinions on whether this is still an efficient medium to advertise these days.
Thanks

i think that the problem may be the recession and more and more people are carrying out garden work etc by themselves?0

I haven't used the Yellow Pages for many years. It's Google (or an equivalent) for me since the turn of the century.0

It depends on the type of business tbh , we still advertise there ,not sure if many people still use the book but it has online links which work well for us..........because we are the type of business people look for ( removals / storage )
However we also target likely customers by leaflet drops , and i think this will be more effective for you , sometimes people dont realise they need a service until its pointed out to them . You can get flyers printed up fairly cheaply , have a look around the areas you are willing to cover and deliver them by handVuja De - the feeling you'll be here later0 -
We still use it and yell.com which we find works for us, but again depends on business. Have to agree with totallybroke we used to have a gardener but do it ourselves to save money....sorryJesus is alive!!!0

I wouldn't hold your breath waiting
Hopefully you didn't pay their full rate. Having said that, 3 days is far too soon to guage a reaction, it might take weeks or months to start bringing some work in.

I do know a carpet fitter who paid £450 for a half page advert and never got one phone call from it other than people wanting bogus free quotes for insurance.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I posted in the Biz forum, but generally in Norn Iron, word of mouth is used more often than across the water, so the blurb that is generated by Yellow pages about increasing sales maybe does not apply so much here.
The recession has hit things like gardening as others have mentioned. People not so willing to spend money on it and also many people who have become redundant are entering the market and competing for the work. Some have been given retraining grants as part of their redundancy package to train as lanscape gardeners, tree surgeons, etc.0
